Flea Circus Productions can
run exciting and fun workshops at schools or any community event you are planning. I offer art and craft activities, and
more specifically workshops in costume, music, beatboxing, dance, performance and
theatrics. Workshops are tailored
to suit different age groups and are ever-changing. Facilitators are enthusiastic and experienced. Facilitators have run workshops for various Council
festivals including Joondalup, Fremantle, Cockburne, Busselton, Wanneroo,
Kalamunda, Subiaco, Maylands, Cue’s QFest, at Whiteman Park, Fairbridge
Festival, various schools eg John Curtin, Glengarry, Kewdale, and Goolillal,
camps and more.
Art & craft workshops ensure that
participants have many opportunities for creativity and self-expression
exploring a wide range of materials. We
provide as much support, assistance and encouragement to participants as
possible.Parents are encouraged to
assist smaller children with their craft - an opportunity for parents to spend
quality time with their children in a supportive and creative environment.
Concepts and storylines can
be developed with participant involvement.
Thematic costumes can be made, and music, choreography and
theatrics can be devised to create a complete performance for a stage
show or parade. This is a fantastic
activity for schools, councils, youth and community groups or any other event
with a performance element.
Screen Printing
We create our own screen-printing
designs and use contemporary screen printing techniques, making it a fun and
inclusive workshop for both children and youths. If a couple of workshops are held, children can produce their own
designs in the first workshop, then print them in the second.
Recycled Implement Printing
A fabulous assortment of widgets and gadgets
are used as printing tools.Implements are dipped in coloured paint and then stamped onto cloth
bandanas. With a variety of implements and
colours, they can create wild and totally unique patterns,
image scapes and even complex mandalas.
Carnival Masks
Exotic and
colourful masks are created using a variety of textiles and decorative
materials.Always a fun activity
suitable for smaller children.
Wands
and Totems
Participants can make their own personalised totem
or wand! Stunning two or three-dimensional sculptures and
structures can be made from flexible cane, and then decorated with a range of
textiles and recycled materials. Perfect for little kids, big kids
and adults. Designs can include funky tribal totems, animals, dream catchers,
peace totems, fairy wands, geometrical shapes, flowers and more. Sky's the
limit!
Felting
& Colourful Woolly Dreadlocks
Participants use felting techniques to
make their own brightly coloured wool dreadlocks. They are adhered to hair clips or elastics.Great for youths and adolescents!
Felt hats, accessories and bags can also be
made.
Decorative Tea Light Lanterns
Tea light candles are constructed using
cane, wire and paper to support a tea candle.Ideal for children from 12 upward who enjoy a challenge.Lanterns can be decorated with images,
Chinese/Japanese symbols of peace, love etc or they can become 'resolution
lanterns' where wishes and resolutions can be written on them.
Cane/Paper Mache Sculptures, Puppets, Pinatas and
Floats
Due to the various stages involved in
production, this is a great activity for a series of workshops (minimum two for
simple structures). Involves design and
construction elements, then focuses on aesthetics in finishing the piece. Again, no limits but the imagination.
Fantasy
Costumes
Mostly recycled materials are used in these
workshops enabling participants to create vibrant and colourful costumes.
Great for events working with specific
themes and fun parades where children can show off their costumes. Can be tailored to suit all ages.
