Gina Knight has been working within the music and entertainment industry for many years as a vocalist, percussionist and performer, but also as an event coordinator, project manager and community artist and therefore draws on a very rich and diverse background of creative experience. Having worked both on stage and behind the scenes adds to her level of professionalism and ensures that her stage performances are dynamic, engaging and tailored for your event. She is fluent in Portugese and has developed a great passion for music from the Bossa Nova period having lived in Brazil for almost a year and having close connections with Brazilian music and the local Brazilian community here in Fremantle.
Gina is in the final throes of completing her Bachelor of English and Creative Arts at Murdoch University where she has specialised in performance and is currently studying classical vocal technique. She also spent a semester in 2009 studying Jazz and participating in a Contemporary Music Ensemble at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She has played key roles in several theatre productions whilst studying at Murdoch University: she played Dame Desdemona, a Victorian Operatic Diva Doll in Lit by Limelight, a Children’s Theatre production written by Jenny de Reuck in May 2009.
In 2009, she performed harmonies for Michael Francas’ band The Quixotics at their CD launch at Mojos and also performances at venues such as the Hyde Park Hotel, Mojos, Swan Hotel, North Fremantle, The Moon Café, Northbridge, Floreat Tavern etc and also recorded on their current album released in Nov 2010. She also coordinated the City of Fremantle Village Art Market programming festivals and stage entertainment over the year.
In 2008, she coordinated the City of Fremantle Festival Carnival Day main stage and ground entertainment and Christmas Concert. In addition, she coordinated the production of two Under 18s Youth Music Events – one for the City of Fremantle’s Fremantle Festival and a private event at the Fremantle Fibonacci Centre.
In 2006/07, she produced the Creature Feature theatre show for children. She collaborated with local local composer Jason Johnston from Masonik in developing a soundscape and soundtrack for the show and has composed several of her own soundscapes as part of her sound art exploration at Curtin University - some of which she has used in her devised performance art pieces.
In 2005, she was the lead vocalist and one of the founding members of the Chameleon Brass Band. She performed with the lively 8 piece band at the Leederville Funk Club, Cirque de Solei opening at the Perth Concert Hall and the City Farm Kambarang Festival and facilitated vocal workshops with children.
From Jun 04 to Aug 05 she was a member of Junkadelic and its ‘sibling’ band Funk Junktion as a vocalist and percussionist using junk instruments (wheelie bin, chemical bin, shakers) at private and corporate events, street performances and festivals. The Funk Junktion Band had a monthly residency at the Funk Club, Leederville and has supported Bomba (Victorial band featuring Nikki Bomba) and international act Ozomatli at the Fly By Night Musicians Club. The band performed at many events and festivals such as the Artrage Festival, The Big Day Out, Subiaco Street Party, Q-Fest 2005. Since leaving Junkadelic / Funk Junktion she still makes lots of noise, just not on hard plastic things.
From Jul 99 to Jun 04 Gina performed with the Sambanistas Community Arts Group playing Brazilian music such as the low surdo (bass drum), bell, tambourine, and Brazilian shaker at private and corporate events, street performances and festivals such as Joondalup Festival, Fairbridge, and Pride. She was a Project Manager for the group and assisted in facilitating percussion workshops for samba parades in schools.
In 1997, she performed as Magenta in an ‘underground’ and ‘abridged’ version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in various clubs and bars in Perth, Western Australia. In the same year, she sang both solo and in a chorus at a cabaret-style Christmas Ensemble as a vocalist and dancer with Playlovers Theatre Group, Subiaco.

Alfix Cioni

As a child playing on the streets of Rome, Italy, Alfix was captivated by the sounds of music coming from the underground music cellars in his area.
“I remember very well guitar riffs of Zeppelin and Deep Purple sounding in the air”.
When he was 15, he got his first guitar and amplifier from a second hand shop and begun to jam with local rock bands. He was heavily influenced by the blues and jazz style that he was studying in a local music school.
At the age of 20, he set off to London (UK) where he undertook a guitar course Music of the Spheres by John Mizarolli during which he spent two years playing lead guitar in the London clubs scene in two cover bands.
On his return to Italy, he commenced writing music and lyrics with Panama, a young original rock band, and recorded close to twenty songs over two years, some which were used on a compilation album released in 1994. The band performed for three years throughout Central Italy and made two 90 minute live performances on the Tuesday Live Show on Radio Roma in Rome.
In 1992, classical music took his interest and he began studying classical guitar. In 1995, he began teaching beginners guitar at a private school in the small city of Colleferro, near Rome, Italy.
Later, in 1999, he obtained his Diploma in Musical Theory and Solfeggio (aural training) at the Conservatory of Music in Frosinone, Italy.
In 1998, his talent became fully apparent in the Monte Della Farina project, an Italian funk and fusion band. He was the key song writer, guitarist and producer of the EP Fuori da Ogni Sguardo. In the same year, he opened his own school and music association called Zoom, where he specialised in teaching beginner’s acoustic guitar and electric guitar until 2009 when he departed Italy for Australia.
Another highlight of his musical career in 2000 was being involved in writing, recording and playing guitar for soundtrack for Come il Mare, a children’s movie. In 2004, he wrote the music for the documentary Anguillara Terra Degli Uomini.
Since April 2009 he has been living in Perth, Western Australia and is now
determined to make his mark in the local music industry.
